Project Description
Description of the project
Between 2000 and 2002 the Rotterdam container throughput stagnated. The other ports in the Hamburg-Le Havre range showed significant growth, while the market share of the port of Rotterdam diminished. Quoted reasons for these developments ranged from high tariffs, hinterland congestion and poor service levels to red tape procedures.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority wanted to have a sound diagnosis of the reasons for this stagnation and an action plan to counteract the adverse developments. An analysis has been made of the situation and discussed during a workshop with the Port of Rotterdam employees. An action plan was drawn up.
